Coleslaw with Century Egg. Yummy!!~~~
Grilled mushrooms. Hehe.. did you see that the first button mushroom is so shrunken?
Needle mushrooms cooked with garlic and margarine, salt and black pepper. The topped with bacon bits (Not real bacon ;)).
Chocolate mint cake. Kinda taste like cake with toothpaste. Hahaha..Dried bamboo shoots

Vegetarian stall at Bukit Batok
Hehe.. sorry, I can't remember what is the shop's name and neither do my friend who recommended this vegetarian stall to me.
This yam ring is quite nice and would have been better if it is saltier.
Asam fish. Seems like something's missing but I can't tell what. It's sour enough but stilll something is missing..

Tomato "Mushrooms"
I was trying to copy my mother's cooking called the Tomato Kai (chicken) by replacing the chicken meat with white button mushrooms. The Tomato Kai is still my favourite dish even though I have been a vegetarian for nearly two years now. Haha... However I found out that white button mushrooms couldn't soak up the flavour from the sauce even after marinating them overnight. They still taste very much like button mushrooms. :(
I think I have to get those monkey head mushrooms instead the next time I try to re-make this dish. Does anyone know where can I buy monkey head mushrooms?

Not sure whether it was because we went to the shop almost around their closing time when they are taking their last orders. These two piece of toasted bread are the worse we have ever eaten compared to any HK-syled teahouse.
The bread is toasted so lightly that it is still very chewy and the butter does not even melt on the bread!

Sakae Sushi (Lot 1)
Secret Recipe
Mai Zhi Su
Another collection of photos taken quite some time ago.
This dish does not have a name yet when we tried it. The chef said we were the first customers to try it. It's quite nice, sort of like friend prawn balls.
Spring rolls. Nice crispy skin.
Seaweed soup.
Brinjal claypot. The sauce is nice but I think the brinjal is too overcooked and mushy.
Indonesian prawns. I haven't tried non-vegetarian Indonesian prawns so I can't compare with it but to me, this curry is very delicious! We have ordered this at least five times. Haha..
Stir fried vegetables.
Shokudo (Raffles City Shopping Center)
Here's a collection of what we have tried on our numerous visits to this restaurant during the past few months.
Kakiage. Hehe.. I love fried crispy stuff. :P
Mixed vegetables teppanyaki. Nice because they put garlic in it. Hehe..
Japanese rosti. Rosti has always been my favourite in Marche since my non-veg days and this Japanese version is even tastier! Eat with lots of cream and onions!!
Mushroom omelette. The egg is slightly sweet. Nice savoury dish. :)
Crepes. Hmmmm.. don't really like the sweet red bean paste. Anyway, I am not a fan of red bean.
Mixed mushrooms tempura. This is excellent! I like the golden needle mushrooms especially.
Haha, I've forgotten what the other drink next to the green tea is already. :P (Btw, I have also tried the macha drink too and it was disgusting!! It has thick green tea powder that floats into the throat as you try to swallow it. Yucks!!)
Red bean with glutinous rice balls. And as I mentioned above, I am not a fan of red bean. So.. I only like the rice balls.
Deli Vege
Spice Garden (Genting, MY)
Mushroom bryani. This is nice and taste like normal bryani rice except for having mushrooms instead of the usual cauliflower.
Sweet curry with Indian cheese balls. I can't remember the name but it has some paneer word there. Hehe.. I love sweet curry!!
Everything is very nice except for the price which is RM85++ including two fresh orange juices.

Secret Recipe (IMM)
Guess where these are from?
After constant accusation from Dreamy that I have abandoned my beloved Vegetarian Health Food restaurant, I decided to go there again. (Haha.. just joking. It was because I miss the asam fish)
Vegetarian "mutton" bryani. This is very good too. Do give it a try. I think they always maintained their high standards. ;)
My favourite asam fish (comes with white rice and popadam).
Hehe.. How can I possibly not order the world's best vegetarian char siew, rite? :P ($3 for two piece of char siew)

Gold Rush. Not sure whether I had remembered its name correctly though. The cheesecake is very creamy but not too sweet. I love the chunky bits of chocholate mixed into the base of the cheesecake. It's so good that after we ordered a second one. :D

Dim Sum (IMM food stall)
Hello everybody!!! Sorry for not updating for such a long time. Hehe.. I was concentrating on "work". :P
Vegetarian Siu Mai, Har Kow. I don't like the texture of the Siu Mai mock meat. Too soft and squishy. The ones with vegetables (I think they are called chives(???) are delicious.) By the way, I recently fell in love with those frozen vegetarian dumplings sold in NTUC/Giant. They are made from Korea and the taste is so good that you might think you are actually eating non-vegetarian dumplings.
Vegetarian Luo Mai Kai. This one is really nice as I haven't eaten Luo Mai Kai for quite a while.

Funny drink
I went to this HK-styled restaurant and saw "Lemon Ribena" on the menu. Since the HK-styled drink Lemon Coke is the coke drink brewed with lemon and ginger, I thought they are brewing the Ribena drink with lemon too. But when my husband came back with the orders, we were laughing madly because this is actually lemon slices and a pack of Ribena drink. :D

Ichiban Sushi
Photos were taken more than two weeks ago at Ichiban Sushi (Parkway Parade).
Vegetable tempura. I really love this but Crystal told me that the tempura sauce may not be vegetarian! Next time need to check with the restaurant.
Vegetable tempura with curry rice. (We requested not to have the ebi tempura in this rice set). Very nice!
Ice cream. Forgotten what this is called exactly. That is banana tempura, in case you can't figure it out from the blur picture. I love this so much more than the tempura ice-cream I tried previously.

Ikea
Have been to Ikea quite a number of times recently so these are what I've eaten during my visits there.
I've forgotten what that luminous green thing is called but just want to comment that it's really too sweet.
As always, the vegetarian spaghetti and Daim cake again. Hahaha... I also tried the lemon jelly which my colleague recommended and was quite disappointed with it because I don't really like soft jellies. I prefer konnyaku type of jellies. :P
By the way, I just found out from Ikea's website that there's quite a few items that we can order when I was trying to find out the name of the green colored roll on the first picture. Click here for the vegetarian menu.

Noodles
Noodles from Mai Zhi Su (Bukit Batok branch).
Wantan noodles. I don't like both the noodle's sauce and wantan. If you want dry noodles, try the Bak Chor Mee instead. ;)
Black-black face. Hehe.. I know I had posted this before but since it is so nice, I think it deserves another recommendation! Hahaha... :P~~
Indian food
These photos were taken about two weeks ago so I can't remember the restaurant's name. It is an Indian restaurant situated outside the Singapore Expo Hall 5.
Papadam with mint sauce. I usually don't like papadam but with mint sauce, it's so much better! :)
Vegetable bryani and curry (I had forgotten the name of this curry). Both are very tasty! The curry is especially good because it is slightly sweet. I love sweet curry. The sweet vegetarian Indian curry I ate in Queenstown is still the best! :P~~~

Eight Treasures Vegetarian
Ichiban Sushi
Saw Dreamy's review of Ichiban Sushi and decided to give it a try when I was at Plaza Singapura two weeks ago.
Yasai tempura. Very good! It's still crispy even after being dipped in sauce. :)
Agedashi tofu. Actually this isn't vegetarian. Notice the fish flakes on top? Sigh... I didn't know until it was served so I just scooped out the flakes and ate the tofu.
Kakiage don. Too dry.
Tempura ice-cream. It is actually an ice-cream filled cream puff dipped into tempura batter and fried. I don't really like it because the cream puff is quite thick.
Mousy brownie. The cake is quite bitter. Would have been better if the cake is slightly sweeter.

Heavy dinner...
While we were waiting for our orders to be served last night at the Mai Zhi Su (BB), we couldn't resist the temptation to try out packed Nasi Lemak at the counter.
Nice, but the sambal can be spicier. I guess the best vegetarian sambal is still from the Vegetarian Health Food.
Mushroom pot. Its like cooking fresh button mushrooms with Japanese-styled curry. Quite nice..
Sesame mock chicken. It tasted great! It's mock meat with sweet and sour sauce, but the sauce is different from the "Ku Lou Yuk" type. More like mock pork ribs sauce. :)

Again.. at my favorite restaurant...
the Mai Zhi Su of course. ;)
These are from MZS (Bukit Batok). The photos are taken on three occassions but since I have already posted photos of some of the dishes, I'm only posting new dishes here.
Kung Po "prawn". Looks great and taste excellent! It's so fragrant and there's really a big difference when the dried chili is used. (I once tried cooking Kung Po veggies with the Lee Kum Kee sauce and it tasted flat.) I love this dish so much that I have already eaten this twice in less than a week. Hehehee....
Teochew steamed "fish". Lovely... very similar to the steamed fish from the Grand Court Vegetarian restaurant. I love the soup..slurrrp...
"Pork knuckles" with vinegar. Sorry for the blurry photo. I hope you can still see the fat layer on the mock meat. Really similar. I think the soup is too sour and would prefer that some brown sugar is added in. But then again, I am someone who love sweet Indian curry. Hahaha...
Haha.. I know I have already posted this Claypot Tofu dish before but since Crystal mentioned that she ordered the wrong dish, I decided to post about it again. And, I can tempt JL to come visit me in SG... haha...
P/S: Actually we also ordered the Curry "fish head" but I couldn't photograph it since my phone's battery was flat.

Vegetarian Health Food
Hehe.. I have gone back to VHF last weekend as I missed the Asam Fish. But, coincidentally, it is the first day of the 10th lunar month so they only sell mixed rice.
The "bak kien" is very nice because the texture is so much nicer than those made from yam.
Hehe.. My favourite "char siew" and black soya sauce fried mock meat. YUMMY!~~
Yuan Yang rice
I ordered Yuan Yang rice from the Mai Zhi Su (Bukit Batok) last week and was quite surprised that it really has two type of rice (normal white rice and brown rice) in a plate. The gravy for the brown rice is saltish while the red colored sauce is sourish. Although the white stuff in the brown rice gravy looks like vomit, it tasted really good and the texture is similar to crab meat. Hahaha... And the red sauce is actually the sweet and sour type, with mock meat. I like both sides but couldn't finish the whole plate as there are two much rice.
Mega Bites Cafe
This is the first time I ate at this cafe which is located at the Science Faculty of NUS. The set only cost $4.90 and the portion is quite big, with lots of vegetables. The taste is great too, like the (special order) vegetarian spaghetti from Jack's Place. :)

Mai Zhi Su (AMK)
We went to the original Mai Zhi Su shop at Ang Mo Kio last weekend. There are more variety in the menu although not all dishes are available daily.
Nyonya fish. The gravy is quite sour and appetizing.
"Cuttlefish" kangkung. Very delicious! The mock cuttlefish tastes so good with the sweet and slightly salty sauce. They are just like real ones, springy and slightly chewy, sans cholesterol.
Char siew rice. Good, but I guess it still can't beat Vegetarian Health Food's char siew (from my first blog post).
"Duck" rice. The mock duck meat is made from mushroom stems. It's quite OK, but still prefer the mock duck rice from Lotus Vegetarian's buffet.
P/S: Overall, the food in Mai Zhi Su (AMK) is nice, but slightly bland compared to the Mai Zhi Su at Bukit Batok.

Lemon chicken rice
Spring Garden (Suria KLCC)
This restaurant has a small section in their menu for vegetarian food.
Peanuts.
Mango juice & orange juice.
Vegetables in crispy yam ring. I remember fondly that we used to have this in (non-veg)wedding banquets and I am quite delighted that they serve vegetarian version here. It's really nice, even without any mock meat. Hehehe...
Abalone mushroom with sweet and sour sauce. I've also tried this dish (世界名片) in Eight Immortals and Mai Zhi Su recently. My favorite is from Eight Immortals as it is slightly crispy while maintaining the texture of the mushrooms. The ones from Mai Zhi Su are too crispy till you would have thought you are eating crackers and the ones shown here are too soft and soggy.
Crispy almond "duck". This is very nice too!!
The cost of this meal is RM97. It's slightly expensive but the portion is quite big even though we ordered small portions. So, it's quite worth it as we both ate until we almost couldn't breath. Hahaha.. I know it sounds exaggerating, but it's true. :P

I missed the food in this restaurant, located in Petaling Jaya area, so much since my last visit in February. I'm happy to report that my favourite dishes are still as excellent as it was when I first ate at this restaurant. ;)
Mui Choy Kao Yuk (Preserved veg with fatty "pork"). This is my favourite!!! I can still recall that we were so surprised to see the mock fatty pork looking so much alike the real ones. The preserved vegetable tastes excellent. Not too salty.
Lemon "chicken". We didn't order it during the previous time but decided to try it. Too bad, the mock chicken is not so nice and there's way too much sauce.
Sambal kangkung. This is nice too.. Another of our favourites.
Bak kut teh. Slurrrpp... :P~~~ The soup is very delicious.
Buffet breakfast
Here's what I ate during my one night stay in Kuala Lumpur Traders Hotel.
Plain porridge with yew char kway, preserved veg and spring onions. Tasty!!! I love spring onions and yew char kway.
Cereal and croissant. Nice too.. love the crunhcy almonds and chocolate cereal.
Baked tomatoes, sauteed mushrooms, scrambled eggs, hash brown, and vanilla twist pastry. All are very nice!!!

Salted veg tofu soup. Very nice because it is not too salty.
Codfish with ginger. Also very delicious! Do try it if you like vegetarian fish.

Wong Kok Teahouse (Bugis Junction)
After listening to Roger Kwoks's radio advertisements for 旺角茶餐厅 (from Malaysian radio channel) several times daily, I couldn't help getting excited to try it in KL. When I saw a newspaper article reporting the opening of the first outlet in SG, I went to try on the very next day.
Cold yun-yong, strawberry yoghurt and mango lime. The mango lime drink is so large, almost like a jug of beer! hahaha.. My strawberry yoghurt drink is quite nice.. :)
Chocolate fondue. Not nice at all, the chocolate syrup is so watery and has a burnt taste.
Peach pudding. Just OK.
Condensed millk and peanut butter on thick toast. This piece of bread is about 4-inches thick! Scary!
Ice-cream and peanut butter toast. Again, too much bread! (Worse of all, we ordered two of this as it looks pretty good on the menu)
French toast. Among all, this is the most edible..
Needless to say, after the initial excitement, I won't be returning to this restaurant anytime soon. The total bill is $49++. Hahaha.. This is the most expensive bread meal I had eaten in my life. :D
P/S: I couldn't order other food because they are non-veg. The Central teahouse at Ngee Ann City has much nicer food. At least they have the Po Lo bun (a-must-have) at HK-styled teahouse.

Actually these photos were taken quite a while ago so I couldn't recall how most of the food tasted like because they didn't leave a deep impression on me. Except... the mock duck rice. Hehehe.. It is so delicious that I could still remember how it tasted like.
"Duck" rice. This is one of the special dish that they have at the side counter (not included in buffet daily). You have to order this from the waitress and each time she will only serve you a small plate. Yes, the plate is small, just like a teacup's saucer. So, I had to order this four times! Hahaha...

Fried rice and assorted dishes.

Mai Zhi Su
Mai Zhi Su is a newly opened restaurant at the Bukit Batok West Avenue 5 (Blk 376), near the Bukit Gombak MRT. These are what I have tried during the two times we visited this restaurant.
Sambal "fish". I love this so much! Will definitely order this again this weekend. The "fish" taste so good even without dipping the chili sauce. With the chili sauce, it is heavenly! :P~~~ (Trust me, it is much nicer than it looks. I'll take another photo because this photo looks blueish due to wrong camera settings)
Tofu with minced meat. This is not bad. If only it was served in claypot to preserve heat.. it would have been much nicer.
Curry rice. I would not recommend this. Curry is too diluted.
Bak kut teh. Very tasty!! Hehe... I have always preferred "dark" bak kut teh. The types of mock meat used in this reminded me of the bak kut teh that I had tried in the Giant Bowl restaurant in KL. Pieces of "bak kut" really comes with "mock bones". Also, there's mock "fatty meat". :D
Bak chor mee. Hehe.. really nice too, like real non-veg versions.

Eight Immortals (Upper Jurong Rd)
This new restaurant is located at the lobby of the Arena Country Club. The food are cheap and delicious and the ambience is great. There's also no service charge. ;)
Stir-fry asparagus. We don't like it because it is really tasteless. But, I think this is the most healthy dish we ordered that night. Haha...
Thai "chicken". At first, we felt that it looked normal like those chili sauce on mock meat that we could get from hawker stalls. But, after one bite, we realised that the texture of the mock meat is different, and the batter is crispy and fragrant. The sauce is also different from chili sauce, kind of citrusy.
Curry leaf monkey head mushroom. Hehe.. my favourite mushroom again. I love this very much, although I still prefer the Sichuan kung po style from The Whole Earth. :P
"Sharks" fin soup. Yummy!!!
Total: $43 only. (Their portion is quite big actually.)

The Whole Earth
Hehe.. this is one my favorite restaurants at the moment. We are quite surprised to find this restaurant in Geylang (somewhere near the Southern Vegetarian restaurant)
Asam pedas (comes with deep fried mock fish slices, see picture below). Believe me, this is REALLY SOUR!!! Haha... but once you swallowed the first spoonful, you'll want more. We ordered another bowl of rice because of this dish.
Fried mock fish.
Sambal kangkung. Love this too! We'll definitely order this again.
Total bill: $48 (Includes all the food shown above, one fresh coconut drink, mango nectar drink, three bowls of white rice, GST and service charge).
Fried seaweed, Sambal, Pickles. I love the sambal so much!!! Just like real sambal with belacan. Yummy!!!
Bibik's Buah Keluak. I heard about this popular dish in many travel shows but never had a chance to try it until now. We immediately ordered this when we saw it on the menu. We love the fried mock meat in this "curry".
Buah Keluak (close up view) from Bibik's Buah Keluak. A teaspoon is used to dig out the flesh of this fruit, which looks gross. Haha... and the taste is quite gross too. Sort of like something fermented. There are three in the bowl but we can't even finish one. Haha.... (The menu stated that if you require extra fruits, you'll be charge $3 for each.) So, we actually wasted $6. :P

Recently, I got really bored eating mixed rice daily for dinner at Woodlands Circle's Koufu foodcourt. So instead of rice, I tried the "Fried Breaded Prawns". It's so good that I ate this as my dinner for two days in a row. Haha.. and then I had sorethroat due to heatiness. Claypot Rice
This is from the NUS Engineering Canteen. It's quite nice but after finishing the whole pot, I got kinda "scared" of the ginger taste. They cook this with plenty of the dark soy sauce with lots of grated ginger. (Most of the sauce is at the bottom, so it can't be seen from this photo.) I would say VHF's claypot rice is still my favourite! :P
